QMS boast a successful show at this year’s Hillhead Exhibition, despite the typical Great British weather. We enjoyed three very busy days with customers attending from all over the world.
The exhibition provided a perfect platform to showcase our new Jaw Crusher, alongside an extensive range of quality aftermarket crusher spare parts and manganese liners.
QMS were also pleased to demonstrate an example of our Modular Crushing System, consisting of predesigned and ready to work crusher, conveyor and feed hopper modules. All modules ran perfectly, creating a crowd of interested visitors and potential new buyers.
The feedback we have received this year has been extremely positive, creating a large number of sales leads and a substantial number of orders and contracts have been secured.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers old and new that came to visit and support us.

QMS have chosen the Hillhead 2016 exhibition to launch the new J-1275 Jaw crusher, alongside a range of modular crushing and screening units.
Making its world debut, the new J-1275 Jaw crusher utilises a non-welded frame design. Constructed from robust steel side plates joined to high-quality cast steel frames through precision machined bosses, secured with high tensile bolts. The absence of weld seams ensures excellent durability against shock loads.
This proven design offers owners the highest possible fatigue strength, combined with high-quality cast steel components and premium spherical roller bearings, ensuring great performance and reliability. The hydraulic toggle and wedge mechanism means that adjustments to the CSS can be made at the touch of a button.
The QMS jaw crusher is available as a base unit or as part of QMS’s range of modular plant. The CE compliant modular unit consists of a J-1275 Jaw crusher, 10m3 feed hopper, vibrating grizzly feeder with under screen and discharge conveyor.
The efficient, all electric drive system is pre wired with simple user friendly controls and galvanised walkways, stairs and handrails complete the specification. The semi mobile modular units are designed for rapid setup and can be quickly assembled using simple tools.
QMS will set up a modular crushing plant in the rock processing demonstration area consisting of a feeder, B3 cone crusher and 1.83×4.00 2 deck screen. The plug and play design means all elements are fully sequenced and interlocked. Operated from a single control point the plant offers the technical benefits of a fixed static plant but with the rapid set up and versatility of a mobile plant.

QMS service engineers have carried out key maintenance on a Svedala 54-74 Primary Gyratory Crusher at a major Leicestershire based Quarry.
The crusher was completely stripped and assessed using NDT (non-destructive testing) and MPI (mangnetic particle inspection) testing.
QMS service personnel are fully trained with appropriate certification including; safety passports, management of lifting operations, welding procedures, compressed gases, access platforms, LGV class C+E, knuckle boom (hiab) operation. Full method statements and risk assessments are prepared for every job undertaken and insurance certificates and equipment test certificates are all provided.
QMS design and manufacture a one deck inclined screen for a leading supplier of concrete products, based in Northern Ireland.
The 4′ x 12′ screen was manufactured to suit the customer’s individual requirements and to replace an existing screen. The screen was delivered to site complete with support frame.
All QMS SVI Inclined screens come fitted with modular vibrator units. The extremely compact and interchangeable units make maintenance far easier compared to a conventional solid shaft design. With two bearings per vibrator pod (4 per screen) they offer exceptional long bearing life. The 2 pods are connected through the centre of the machine using a cardan shaft. This can easily be disconnected during maintenance. The vibratory mechanism is located at centre of gravity, giving circular motion in all points of the screen.
QMS offer a service exchange on Modular Vibrating Units in the event of a breakdown.
QMS range of aggregate processing equipment includes jaw & Cone crushers, Inclined & Horizontal screens, Conveyors, feeders, complete modular plants. 100% manufactured by QMS in the UK All equipment is backed up by exceptional customer service and parts support.

Tillicoutry Quarries required not only a screen but also a complete modular steel support structure, rubber lined discharge chutes, a 20m long x 750mm wide discharge conveyor with walk way and a 10m3 feed hopper with a 900mm wide belt feeder.
The 1.83×5.0m 2 deck screen was configured to take wire mesh on the top deck and Isenmann WS85 Polythurethane modules on the lower deck. Fully galvanised walkways completed the specification.
The plant was installed and commissioned by QMS service engineers.
Andrew Shakeshaft (Area Production Manager, Tillicoultry Quarries) commented:
“The process has provided the perfect replacement for the old screen and comes with much improved access facilities. Its new orientation now provides a facility to process the remainder of existing reserves and also future new reserves over many years to come. It has delivered what we expected. QMS engineers working closely with TQ staff on site decommissioned the old plant and re installed the new during very adverse wintry conditions safely to achieve an all-round excellent end result.”
QMS service engineers have completed a major maintenance program on a Fuller 54×75 Primary Gyratory crusher.
The crusher is located at Cliffe Hill Quarry Operated by Midland Quarry Products (a wholly owned subsidiary of Hanson).
The work conducted over the Christmas period, included the replacement of the worn out concaves and mantle. In addition the outer eccentric bushing and spider bushing were also replaced.
All replacements parts were manufactured by QMS at our manufacturing facility in the UK.
Bob Davis (MQP Chief Engineer) commented “I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of the QMS service engineers involved in the difficult task over the Christmas period, which was completed on time and in budget.”
The quarry currently produces up to 4.5 million tonnes of granite aggregate per year and predominantly supplies the construction and road building industry, through the company’s Quarrying, Asphalt and Rail Distribution Operations.
Leith Quarries based in Aberdeen required a screen to replace a worn out powerscreen. QMS were able to custom design a replacement engineered to fit the existing structures, saving valuable time and money.
The screen supplied SVI-F02M 1.52 x5.0m 2 deck was manufactured to reuse the existing Scandura Module 600 polyurethane screen media.
The screens are of bolted construction for ease of maintenance and incorporate replaceable bolt on feed and discharge lips. The specification included a support frame complete with integral rubber lined belly chute and twin discharge. Support springs, spring bases, pivoting rosta motor mount, motor, v belt drives and pulleys. The screen was manufactured in 6 weeks and installed and commissioned by QMS engineers
Louie Gray (Project Manager, Leith Aggregates) commented:
“The screen box frame was designed to be supported from existing steelwork thus retaining original platforms and handrails. The simplicity of the bearing units allows them to be removed from the screen box and refurbished in workshop conditions or having a rebuilt bearing unit in stores for a quick change over. In general it is a very quiet and smooth running machine “
The QMS range of aggregate processing equipment includes jaw & Cone crushers, Inclined & Horizontal screens, Conveyors, feeders, complete modular plants. 100% manufactured by QMS in the UK, all equipment is backed up by exceptional customer service and parts support.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from QMS!
