Quality Inspector
QMS are a successful family run business based at Bardon Hill in Leicestershire. We are OEM manufacturers of crushing & screening equipment and one of Europe’s largest suppliers of aftermarket spare and wear parts for the worldwide quarrying and mining industries, our service and workshop teams provide expert installation & maintenance for aggregate plant throughout the UK and beyond. We are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team.
As a Quality Inspector, based on the shop floor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all parts and components produced by the machine shop meet our quality standards. Primarily using a portable (Faro Quantum M4.0 7 Axis Arm) CMM alongside a variety of traditional measuring equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use the Faro Arm to inspect machined parts and components producing reports as appropriate.
- Carry out goods’ inwards inspection as required.
- Carry out first off and running inspection ensuring that appropriate information is provided to the machinist and/or Machine Shop Supervisor.
- Identify and document any deviations from the specified tolerances and report them to the appropriate parties.
- Ensure any non-conforming product is identified and highlighted with Machine Shop Manager.
- To check and calibrate measurement equipment on a regular basis, as determined by the Quality Management System; ISO:9001 2015.
- Ensure all parts are correctly identified and labelled to maintain traceability.
- Collaborate with the Design Department to ensure all drawings are suitable for the chosen method of manufacture with a focus on improving production processes and quality.
Essential criteria:
- Understand and interpret engineering drawings (metric & imperial).
- Proficient in the use of Faro Quantum M4.0 7 Axis Arm and software.
- Proficient in the use of all measuring equipment including:
- Micrometer, Vernier, Caliper, Thread Gauges, Depth Gauges and Dti
- Qualified or experienced in Engineering / Heavy industry.
- Possesses a good working knowledge of Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and a good team player.
- Meticulous approach with excellent attention to detail.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of geometric tolerancing would be advantageous.
- Competent to sling and use overhead cranes.
- Sound knowledge of Windows software and good technical report writing skills
- Problem solving and trend identification.
- Knowledge of CAD models.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £38,000 per annum depending on experience plus annual bonus incentive
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

- Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.30pm 40 hours per week. Flexible regarding working hours as overtime midweek and at weekends may be required. Occasional site visits may be required.
